- Right heart failure is characterized by a low cardiac output, hypotension, hepatic enlargement and raised JVP. - Cardiogenic shock due to right ventricle failure has a mortality rate comparable to left ventricle failure.
Shortness of breath is the most common symptom of acute heart failure. From there, the condition shares many of the same symptoms as chronic or severe heart failure. These symptoms may be much more pronounced with acute heart failure though.
Right ventricular (RV) failure remains a major cause of global morbidity and mortality for patients with advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, or acute myocardial infarction and after major cardiac surgery.
